Several Health Insurance a Graduate Student Should Consider
from:
Health insurance is very important nowadays. You want something to secure your future health in order to have peace of mind and also have financial security.
You probably know that hospitalization expenses and other kinds of medical expenses can be very expensive. You want something to lean on whenever the need arises. Besides, youll never know when bad things will happen to you. Accidents and diseases are just lurking around the corner.
However, because of the increasing cost of medical treatments, not many people can afford to buy a comprehensive coverage health insurance policy, especially new college graduates who are still adjusting to the real world.
College graduates who are lucky enough to find a job right away can have a chance to get an affordable health insurance policy. This is because there are companies that can offer them group health insurance policy. A group health insurance has comprehensive health insurance coverage and is very cheap compared to other forms of health insurance.
This is because companies will pay for most of their employees monthly premiums in order to attract and keep good employees.
However, what if you are still looking for a job and you dont have enough money for a permanent health insurance, you can always get a short-term health insurance (also known as temporary health insurance). Short-term health insurance is a health insurance policy that can get you covered while you are still searching for a permanent or long-term health insurance.
Included in the coverage for short-term health insurance are emergency medical treatment and other coverage you will usually find in a comprehensive coverage health insurance. It is also very cheap and almost everyone can afford it. However, this kind of health insurance is temporary and can only last for a maximum of one year.
You can always get permanent health insurance, like individual health insurance. However, this insurance policy is usually very expensive. If you have enough money and you already have a steady job, you may afford it.
You may still find affordable individual health insurance. However, it may require you to shop around. What shopping around means is that you have to visit several insurance companies and ask for their individual health insurance quotes. By doing this, you will determine which kind of individual health insurance is both affordable and has the best possible health benefits.
You should always remember that having health insurance should be one of your main priorities after you graduate. You probably know the benefits you can get in a health insurance. However, many new graduates consider saving money first and often neglecting buying health insurance.
Doing this is like neglecting your future health. Your savings will only drain away if in case you get involved in an accident or have an illness that will require expensive hospitalization and other medical expenses. Think about it, a lot of people without health insurance go into debt just to pay for the medical expenses.
Think of health insurance as a very good kind of investment to secure you financially. You should never think of health insurance as a luxury but as a necessity that everyone should have in life.
You as a newly graduate should know that health insurance isnt just another monthly expense you have to make, but it is a form of security to secure your future health and to secure your finances.
